Pattern-restricted permutations composed of 3-cycles

In this paper, we characterize and enumerate pattern-avoiding permutations composed of only 3-cycles. In particular, we answer the question for the six patterns of length 3. We find that the number of permutations composed of n 3-cycles that avoid the pattern 231 (equivalently 312) is given by $3^{n?1}$, while the generating function for the number of those that avoid the pattern 132 (equivalently 213) is given by a formula involving the generating functions for the well-known Motzkin numbers and Catalan numbers. The number of permutations composed of n 3-cycles that avoid the pattern 321 is characterized by a weighted sum involving statistics on Dyck paths of semilength n.

A remark on strong law of large numbers for weighted U-statistics

Let {X,Xn; n ≥ 1} be a sequence of i.i.d.random variables with values in a measurable space(S,S) such that E|h(X1,X2,...,Xm)| ∞,where h is a measurable symmetric function from Sminto R =(-∞,∞).Let {wn,i1,i2,...,im; 1 ≤ i1 i2 ··· im ≤ n,n ≥ m} be a matrix array of real numbers.Motivated by a result of Choi and Sung(1987),in this note we are concerned with establishing a strong law of large numbers for weighted U-statistics with kernel h of degree m.We show that lim n→∞m!(n-m)!n!1≤i1i2···im≤n wn,i1,i2,...,im(h(Xi1,Xi2,...,Xim)-θ)=0 a.s.whenever supn≥mmax1≤i1i2···im≤n|wn,i1,i2,...,im|∞,whereθ=Eh(X1,X2,...,Xm).The proof of this result is based on a new general result on complete convergence,which is a fundamental tool,for array of real-valued random variables under some mild conditions.     

Dispersive dark optical soliton with Schödinger-Hirota equation by G′/G-expansion approach in power law medium

This paper studies dispersive optical solitons that are governed by the Schrödinger-Hirota equation with power law nonlinearity. The G′/G-expansion method is applied to extract soliton solution to this equation. This approach reveals dark 1-soliton solution to the equation.     

On weighted q-Daehee polynomials with their applications

In this paper, we first consider a generalization of Kim’s $p$-adic $q$-integral on ${\mathbb{Z}}_p$ including parameters $\alpha$ and $\beta$. By using this integral, we introduce the $q$-Daehee polynomials and numbers with weight $\left(\alpha ,\beta \right)$. Then, we obtain some interesting relationships and identities for these numbers and polynomials. We also derive some correlations among $q$-Daehee polynomials with weight $\left(\alpha ,\beta \right)$, $q$-Bernoulli polynomials with weight $\left(\alpha ,\beta \right)$ and Stirling numbers of second kind.     

Weighted covering numbers of convex sets

In this paper we define the notions of weighted covering number and weighted separation number for convex sets, and compare them to the classical covering and separation numbers. This sheds new light on the equivalence of classical covering and separation. We also provide a formula for computing these numbers via a limit of classical covering numbers in higher dimensions.     

A closer look at covering number bounds for Gaussian kernels

We establish some new bounds on the log-covering numbers of (anisotropic) Gaussian reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. Unlike previous results in this direction we focus on small explicit constants and their dependency on crucial parameters such as the kernel bandwidth and the size and dimension of the underlying space.
